Low-Impact Movement

3 days/week

This program is for people who want to exercise regularly but prefer to avoid jumping, running, or high-force movements. It suits beginners, people who find high-impact exercise uncomfortable, and anyone who wants a steady, controlled approach to fitness. No prior experience is required.

Sessions combine gentle mobility work, low-impact cardiovascular movement, controlled strength exercises, and balance training. The pace is steady and deliberate. You will learn to move with control and awareness rather than speed. Sessions build gradually over four weeks, introducing new movement patterns as earlier ones become familiar.

Reduce range of motion

You do not need to move through the full range of any exercise. A smaller, controlled movement is always preferable to a larger, uncomfortable one.

Use a wall or chair for balance

Any balance exercise can be performed with one hand lightly touching a wall or the back of a chair. Remove the support gradually as your balance improves.

Shorten the cardiovascular section

If the cardiovascular portion feels too long, reduce it by half. Even five minutes of low-impact movement provides meaningful benefit.

Pause between exercises

There is no requirement to move from one exercise to the next without stopping. Rest as needed and resume when you feel ready.

Low-impact means that at least one foot remains in contact with the ground at all times during movement. There is no jumping, running, or high-force landing. This reduces stress on the joints while still providing meaningful cardiovascular and strength benefits.

No. Low-impact refers to the force placed on your joints, not the intensity of the workout. A low-impact session can still be physically challenging and effective. You can increase effort by slowing down movements, adding more repetitions, or holding positions longer.

No equipment is required. All exercises use bodyweight only. A yoga mat is helpful for floor-based movements but is not essential.
